In 1950, Jarritos sodas were created by Francisco “El Güero” Hill in Mexico, right in his very own dining room. He used real fruits and real sugar to make a soda that was real delicious. Jarritos expanded to 11 unique flavors using fresh fruits, including ones from mandarin groves hidden somewhere in the Yucatán. As for the rest of the fruits, all are from Mexico; the limes come from Colima, grapefruit from Veracruz, hibiscus from Guerrero, tamarind from Oaxaca, pineapple from Tabasco, guava from Aguascalientes and mango from Chiapas. Using only fresh fruits and real sugar, Jarritos became the best-selling national soft drink in Mexico by 1960. Soon, Jarritos expanded to the U.S., keeping the same flavors, the same original recipes and the same authentic glass bottles. Why mess with perfection? Today, thousands of bottles of Jarritos travel the world daily. Perhaps you’re even enjoying one now.
